FCC chairman wants the world to follow India’s ‘Tiktok ban’
United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner Brendan Carr has expressed support for India's complete ban on Chinese apps, stating that other countries worldwide should adopt the same approach. Carr said that Chinese apps beholden to the Communist Party have a history of illicit data collection, posing security risks. India banned TikTok and over 100 other Chinese apps in 2020. A class-action lawsuit has been filed in the US against ByteDance-owned video editing app CapCut, alleging the illegal collection and profiting from user data including biometric and geolocation information.
